The American Emigration Revue (AER) is the first research and media platform dedicated to understanding American emigration.
We collect and analyze data, monitor media narratives, and examine the long-term impact of Americans living abroad, while also connecting stories, statistics, and trends that are often seen in isolation.
Our work focuses on what happens beyond the border, and on how this movement reshapes societies on both sides.
Over the past several years, Americans have increasingly chosen to live abroad.
This movement is driven by multiple forces: from politics and cost of living to remote work, climate anxiety, and the search for a different way of life.
What once felt marginal is quietly becoming a trend. And we’re here to document it.
AER was created to bring structure, visibility, and clarity to this movement.
By collecting data, monitoring media coverage, and connecting long-term trends, we help define how American emigration is understood, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Collect and analyze credible data on Americans abroad
Support journalists, researchers, policymakers, and migrants with insight & context
Track the cultural, political, and economic impact of this trend in the U.S. and abroad
Build public understanding of what it means when Americans leave home

“Great leaders inspire and empower their teams, they lead by example and are willing to take risks. Leadership is not about being the boss, it’s about creating a vision and inspiring others to join you on that journey.”
- DANIEL ATZ
Daniel Atz is an American–Luxembourg dual citizen and serial entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of citizenship, migration, and data.
After reclaiming his own Luxembourg citizenship, Daniel founded LuxCitizenship, a company that has since helped more than 2,000 Americans obtain EU dual citizenship, often supporting their transition to life abroad.
As the business grew, so did his interest in the broader patterns behind these individual journeys. In 2018, Daniel launched a long-term demographic study on Americans reclaiming Luxembourg nationality. What began as a small research project evolved into a multi-edition data series by 2023, incorporating thousands of cases and public data from Luxembourg’s open data portal. The study was later recognized by national open data authorities and featured in outlets such as Folha de S. Paulo and CNN Brasil.
