American Emigration Revue ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you use americanemigration.com and our related services.

1. Data We Collect

A. Information you provide

  • Newsletter signup: your email address.

  • Contact and correction forms: your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write to us.

  • Advertiser kit requests: your name, work email, organization, and role.

  • Account information: if you create an account, your email address and authentication credentials.

  • Subscription and billing: if you take a paid plan, your card details are collected directly by our payment processor. We never see or store a full card number.

B. Information we collect automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.

  • Website analytics: pages visited, time spent, referral sources, and interaction data.

  • Session analytics: we use a tool that records page interactions such as clicks, scrolling, and mouse movement, so we can see how readers actually use the site. Text you enter into form fields is masked and is not captured.

  • Cookies and similar technologies: described in full in our Cookies Policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To publish and deliver our research, articles, and weekly brief

  • To operate accounts and paid subscriptions, and to take payment

  • To answer inquiries, corrections, and press requests

  • To understand how the site is used and improve it

  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Legal Bases for Processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on contract, to provide the account or subscription you asked for; consent, for the weekly brief, which you may withdraw at any time; and legitimate interests, to keep the site secure, understand how it is read, and answer correspondence.

4. Who We Share Data With

We share personal data only with providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery

  • Supabase — database hosting and account authentication

  • Stripe — subscription payments and billing

  • Google Analytics — website analytics

  • Microsoft Clarity — session analytics and heatmaps

  • beehiiv — newsletter delivery, for the weekly brief

We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it.

Some pages embed video from YouTube. If you play an embedded video, Google may set cookies and receive data about that view under its own privacy policy.

5. International Transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers process data in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal data is transferred outside your country. Where required, those transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism operated by the provider concerned.

6. How Long We Keep Data

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, and briefly afterwards so that the unsubscribe is honored.

  • Account and subscription records: while your account is open, and afterwards where tax and accounting law requires it.

  • Correspondence: up to two years after our last exchange.

  • Analytics and session data: held by our analytics providers under their retention settings. We do not use it to identify individual readers.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights under the GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA, and other privacy laws:

  • Access & portability — request a copy of your personal data

  • Correction — correct inaccurate personal data

  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data

  • Object or restrict — object to or limit certain uses

  • Withdraw consent — unsubscribe from the weekly brief using the link in every email

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@americanemigration.com. We will not treat you differently for asking. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you may also complain to your national data protection authority.

8. Children

This site is written for an adult readership. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and material changes will be noted here.
